Tezos Shooter ’Reaper Actual’ Enters Alpha Playtesting with Optional Crypto Elements
John Smedley, co-creator of EverQuest and industry veteran, has launched the alpha playtesting phase for his new crypto-integrated shooter 'Reaper Actual.' The game requires a minimum $29.99 payment for initial access to base and character assets.
Despite backlash from traditional gaming fans, Smedley emphasizes that blockchain features are entirely optional, with only 8% of players expected to use the NFT marketplace. The Etherlink-built game offers true ownership of in-game assets through Sequence's technology.
'Reaper Actual remains fundamentally a skill-based shooter first,' Smedley stated, while defending the innovative ownership model enabled by blockchain integration. The project represents another high-profile experiment in blending Core gameplay with Web3 elements.
